WHERE DO I START?
Interview Architects. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about their availability, fees, deliverables, and approach to design. We believe that a successful interview starts with your hopes and goals for your project, but also outlines the necessary process. It’s easy to get excited and focus on the possibilities, but you should also walk away with a solid understanding of the process and know what to expect over the next few months or years, depending on your project.
WHO IS THE RIGHT ARCHITECT?
Fit is everything. The right Architect is one who will listen as much as they express their own ideas. They should communicate clearly and help you visualize their ideas. They should integrate your budget, quality, and schedule expectations into their design to avoid unnecessary surprises. And they should take charge when necessary to guide your project through any challenges that may, and probably will arise.
HOW DO I ACHIEVE MY GOALS?
Stick to your guns. Be clear about your hopes, even your fears, and be as specific as you can. We believe that constraints help create dynamic, site specific design solutions, and although the process necessary to realize your project can be stressful at times, it should be a mostly enjoyable experience. If things take a wrong turn, raise your hand. The process should be as much about your project and investment as it is about your Architect’s artistic expression.
WHAT WILL MY PROJECT COST?
This is up to you. Architect designed projects do not necessarily need to be over budget. We take your budget seriously and will help you understand how your specific property, intended use, space requirements, and quality expectations all contribute to the design, permitting, and construction cost of your project. We will help you set priorities and make informed decisions throughout the process that reflect your particular set of goals.
WHEN WILL MY PROJECT BE DONE?
It will probably take longer than you think. It takes time to create a custom design solution from a complex set of project goals and constraints. We strive to find a realistic balance between the initial excitement of the design process and the limitations that exist on all projects, by continually managing our client’s expectations throughout the process. With the early selection of a contractor, they complete the project team, and play a crucial role in the overall schedule.
WHY ZEKE BUSCH ARCHITECTS?
Design is the easy part. What distinguishes us is our approach, collaboration, and open dialogue with clients and contractors. We believe that a client is at the center of any successful Architectural endeavor and that the relationship between client, Architect, and contractor is critical in order to realize the full potential of any project. And we strive to create enduring, site specific, modern design solutions by continually questioning our understanding of the medium in which we work; be it technology, a particular building material or system, the local climate, or your budget.
